Passed away at James Paton Memorial Health Center, on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Vera Akagi born in Glovertown on June 24 1949. A world traveler and global citizen. She called no place and every place home. She married Iraji Estekantchi in Tehran, Iran in 1976 and she raised a daughter; Michelle. She was predeceased by her parents; Selina and Ernest Smart and brother; Frank Smart.

Vera obtained degrees in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Nursing. She held careers in many fields including; computer programming, owner of a carpet store and finally retiring doing what she enjoyed most; nursing. She was a dedicated, hard working, knowledgeable, kind nurse. She had a passion for traveling, thirst for knowledge and desire to discover various cultures and people. She often told endless humorous stories of her adventures to friends and co-workers leaving many fascinated by her experience.

Leaving to morn daughter; Michelle, son-in-law Amir, grandson; Shayan and second grandson to be born Jan 1 2018. Sisters; Violet (Walt) King, Jeanette (Lloyed) Smart, Geraldine (Sis) Hoffsteller, and brother William (Ruby) Smart.
Resting at Oram's Funeral Home in Glovertown with visitation on Monday from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service will take place at Oram's Funeral Home at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 19th.
