Obituary for Ruby Feltham

Passed peacefully away surrounded by love at Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s, on March 21, 2018 Ruby Eloise Feltham (nee Taylor) age 87, of Glovertown. Predeceased by her husband, Elijah and sister Verna, Ruby leaves to mourn her four sons - Robert (Dora), David (Carolann), Wally (Noileen) and Steven; eight grandchildren - Christopher, Erin, Lori, Andrew, Sarah, Leanna, Luke and Kayla; seven great grandchildren - Evangeline and Zackary, Emma, Hannah and Oliver, and Seniko and Mateo; and a wide and cherished circle of family and friends.

Ruby was born in Cupids, Conception Bay on October 20, 1930. After completing school she became a teacher. While teaching in Victoria, Conception Bay she met and married her husband Elijah on October 10, 1952. Although Ruby no longer taught after the birth of her first son, Robert, teaching was a vocation that she respected and identified with throughout her life. Ruby and Elijah with Robert and David moved from Victoria to Glovertown in 1962 where Elijah taught. Glovertown was, and is, a special place to Ruby and, although she would say she was born in Cupids, Glovertown was home.

The family would like to thank Ruby’s supportive family and friends during Elijah’s illness and time living alone, the staff at Baywatch Manor, Glovertown where she resided from 2010 until 2015, and the staff at Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s, where Ruby spent the last years of her life.

The church generally, and Faith United Church in Glovertown specifically, held a special place in Ruby’s life, so in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith United Church, Glovertown.
